While there is nothing new or special here, the system fits snugly into the game and does not serve as much of a distraction.Р’В One major improvement in Dying Light over its competitors is the free-running aspect. There is, of course, a crafting system that allows you to create consumables, upgraded weapons and projectiles of various capabilities. Repairs on each weapon are only allowed a finite number of times РІР‚вЂњ which was actually a nice touch as it forces you to try a variety of weapons instead of finding one you like and repairing it endlessly. You can then repair them using spare parts, break them down into more spare parts or sell them at one of the scattered shops. You start by using various everyday items around you, such as pipes and planks of wood, to bludgeon your undead foes into submission until they inevitably break down. The combat itself will feel extremely familiar to anyone to played Dead Island or similar. You must stop at nothing to collect the required intel and report back to the GRE (Global Relief Effort) РІР‚вЂњ but of course, nothing is ever as it seems. The plot essentially revolves around yourself, a government agent dropped into an outbreak quarantine zone, tasked with getting information on a dangerous warlord suspected to be running his operations from inside this area. The storytelling is quite impressive for a survival horror ARPG, to the point that I was actively thinking about each mission I went on and how it related to the overall story arc РІР‚вЂњ quite the rare occurrence for a gamer like myself. Techland, who developed Dead Island and its sequel, Riptide, used all of that experience to create a similar and yet totally evolved game in Dying Light. Boy, was I missing out on one gem of a title.Р”Р„vailable forР’В PC, Mac, Linux, XB1 and PS4, you would be hard-pressed to find someone who didnРІР‚в„ўt own at least one platform to play Dying Light on. I donРІР‚в„ўt know how this is possible, since I played and lovedР’В Dead Island and a plethora of other zombie survival action-thrillers in the past decade. I must admit that I somehow missed Dying Light when it was originally released in 2015. With the anticipation leading up to the release of Dying Light 2 Stay Human this December, I had the opportunity to check out developer TechlandРІР‚Вs Dying Light Platinum Edition, which encompasses all of the DLC from the first game in one tidy package. ItРІР‚в„ўs so simple! And it lets me feel like I can concentrate on the things I care about. Running a lot raises your agility and gives you more agility-specific abilities. ThereРІР‚в„ўs the РІР‚СљSurvivorРІР‚Сњ pool, which is just general experience gained from doing missions, and then separate trees for agility and strength. You donРІР‚в„ўt have to take it to the same extremes as Elder Scrolls and have two-dozen skills for me to level up in separately, but IРІР‚в„ўm loving Dying LightРІР‚Вs three-pool system. This guy is Danny Glover, right? IРІР‚в„ўm not crazy? If I run a lot, I should get better at running. Why donРІР‚в„ўt more games use this? If I stab things, I should get better at stabbing things. You know what system doesnРІР‚в„ўt get used enough in RPGs? The РІР‚СљIf you use it, you get better at itРІР‚Сњ skill progression system. More games should steal from Elder Scrolls I wanted to say his name was Jason Brody, but then I remembered that actually is the name of the guy in Far Cry 3.Р”Тђ. I mean, I donРІР‚в„ўt even know the guyРІР‚в„ўs name. But I also wanted to let everyone know of the issues on my own, personal rig, which is currently sporting an overclocked EVGA 970. Let me know if youРІР‚в„ўre also playing on the PC and experiencing issues. It seems to happen completely at random, and I donРІР‚в„ўt know what to do to fix it. IРІР‚в„ўve tried dipping all sorts of settings, but so far no luck. Visuals slowly (one frame per second) ratchet back in sync with the audio over the course of a few seconds. HereРІР‚в„ўs how it goes: Visuals freeze, but audio keeps playing for a few seconds. Six or seven times now IРІР‚в„ўve hit a full-on halt, though. Some slowdown here and there, but nothing too major.

Ninety-five percent of the time, the game runs as expected. IРІР‚в„ўll be looking around the Internet today to see if others report the same, but IРІР‚в„ўve been experiencing a lot of frame stuttering and some outright freezing. IРІР‚в„ўve heard that the console versions are okay, but the PC version has some curious issues.
